Choosing A Wedding Photographer
Best Bang For Your Buck
The advice I have given friends for years has been to find a photographer who wants to start doing weddings (and you like their other photos) because they will almost always be looking to give massive deals on their first few weddings to help build their portfolio. Whether you choose another photographer or not, that’s still my advice. Weddings are expensive! And it’s kind of funny how the biggest celebration you’ll throw together is your first one- your wedding day.

How Much Time Do I Need?
4 Hours - "The Basic Essentials"
This gets you details of your wedding, the ceremony, family photos, and beginning of the reception.
8 Hours - "The Everything Package"
This gets you details of your wedding, first-looks, intimate sessions, the ceremony, family photos, all of the reception, and the exit. So, the whole day!
6 Hours - "The Pick And Choose Package"
This gets you somewhere between the 4 and 8 hour session. With this option, you will have to cut some things out (the before ceremony or late reception and exit).
What To Look For?
The two biggest things I’d recommend are style and personality. So, when you look at a wedding photographer and you like his or her work, then you’ll want to make sure it’s a good personality fit. Think about it. Your wedding photographer will be with you hours during some of the most intimate moments of your big day! If you like your wedding photographer, that’ll make the day so much more fun.
Do I Need An Engagement Session?
I would almost always recommend doing an engagement session! Engagement sessions allow you to get comfortable with getting your picture taken by your photographer before your wedding day during either your getting ready photos, your first-look, or your ceremony (depending on what package you choose).
On top of all that, this allows you to get intimate pictures together in a completely different location than your wedding and in non-wedding attire. While I may be biased, it’s fun to do an engagement shoot / couples shoot!
